Do not be overcome by
evil, but overcome evil with good.
He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them. You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language, but to the people of Israel— not to many peoples of obscure speech and strange language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you. But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate. But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are. I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.” Ezekiel 3:4-9

Again, again, again—Good overcomes evil!
Good SHOULD overcome evil!
Good people should not be bothered by evil people in the
sense that evil people “get to them.” Instead,
good people should make evil people uncomfortable! If anyone must be uncomfortable, it should b
evil people!
Evil.
We don’t like to use this word unless we are dealing with
villains in comic books or movies. We
don’t think of people as good and evil, true or false.
Yet we know there is evil in this world, and that people do
evil. When extreme things happen, like
terrorist attacks or murdering innocent children at a school cafeteria, we come
face to face with evil people doing evil and inexcusable things.
But why should evil people ever triumph?
Isn’t this one of the issues behind the whole gun control
debate? The way many feel is this: If some evil people have guns, and THEY WILL,
the good people need to be able to stop them.
We want our police officers and the protectors of our society
armed. We want good to defeat evil. Good people to defeat evil people.
But let’s take this out of the extreme examples of guns and
school shootings.
Let’s just deal with foolish comments made by foolish
people.
Like the ones made to me and my wife about the number of
children we have. Like it’s anybody’s
business, really. But beyond that. God says my children are a reward from
Him. So why should ignorant comments
from ignorant people bother me?
They shouldn’t. They
don’t.
God told the Prophet Ezekiel that He would harden Ezekiel’s head against the hard headed Israelites, those who wouldn’t receive
Ezekiel’s message to Israel from God.
The same applies to all who do good, who speak for God, and who
act for God. The mother who stays at
home and has children should not be affected AT ALL by the foolish words of
those who discourage her. THEY SHOULD BE
AFFECTED BY HER!
When they make ignorant statements, they should feel
ignorant! When they say stupid things,
they should feel stupid! Feelings should match reality.
Good people should feel good about doing good. Good people should overcome evil people by
simply being themselves.
Evil people should be embarrassed by good people, and not
the other way around, because the children
of light expose the shameful actions of the children of darkness.
