Lord Jesus,
I honor you as Our Savior and I thank you for coming into the world to save us.
It is written that you came into the world to destroy the works of the devil. You called him a murderer, and said that he murdered from the beginning. Yet at times it does not seem you have done this. The 27 who were murdered just 11 days ago seem to contradict the purpose of your birth.
What can we do but trust you?
What can we do but ask you to comfort those who mourn?
Touch those who are in deep sorrow as only you can. Send those to them who know how to speak, as well as how to be silent in these times. Send angels. Send your Spirit. Please help them to bear what feels unbearable today. May the memories of those who are no longer here be clear. May they somehow be felt, their spirits with those who mourn them. Help those who mourn to just make it through today, through this hour, through this moment.
By Your Spirit, Lord Jesus, please be merciful. Embrace those who feel like they want to die as well.
Where they feel hopelessly hurt, some how and some way, give them the hope of your return, and the hope of seeing their loved ones again.
